Week 3-Project Life

Project Life Week 3:

Wow I can't believe that we are three weeks into documenting 2011 already!
I am loving this process. I am a first time Project Life user. Click here for more info on it!
Becky Higgins Project Life

After 3 weeks in I have learned that I take way to many pictures of the dogs and not enough pictures of the family. (Maybe there is a hidden meaning there, the dogs don't talk back.)
:-)
This week I documented our dinner menu. And I did it after the fact so you can see that I really did make the family eat left overs and Daddy brought home Taco Bell one night because I was under the weather.
(I also included a recipe for one of our meals)
I have been digging into my
massive supply of rub ons,
scrap paper
and
flowers
to Lexify Project Life!
This little project is completely in line with my
"Enjoy" 2011 Resolution

Love is all you need

Striped Paper-Heidi Grace (actually that is the back side of a pink sheet. Heehee)

Red Ribbon-personal ribbon jar

Non Traditional Valentine's Day Cards

I love a good challenge. It has been a while since i have made a card. I saw the January Challenge on Papertrey Ink's Blog and thought it would be fun to play along. They have the most darling stamps, the cutest monthly releases and the best shipping times.

The Challenge: Use a set to make a card that you haven't inked before.
I was inspired by the PTI design team's linear work.

Example 1:

Example 2:
I love the elegant feel the damask print gives these cards. It will come in handy for both Valentines Day & a sweet card to say I love you!

I used:
Black and Blush Cardstock from my stash
Papertrey Ink: Damask Designs
Black Grosgrain Ribbon
Black Pen & Ruler

Ikea Magazine Rack REDO

We have/had (cause I have already redone it!) this gray Ikea magazine rack
that worked perfect in our fun bright colored loft,
but in our new pad it needed an updo.

First Step: Prime
(This is pretty much the before also. The gray color was the same just glossy.)

Second Step:
Spray Paint Black
(I just did the front,
since it will be on the wall I didn't think it would matter.
Yep, that's how I roll!)

Third Step:
Mod Podge really cute scrapbook paper onto the parts that stick out.
(How is that for technically speaking?!)

Fourth Step: I cut some darling letters using my coolio Cricut (Storybook)
I mod podged them on as well and then added a little bit of
HD Medium to give the letters a bit of raised texture.

5th: I painted all the parts that were left with Elmers Glue. Working quickly I painted over the glue with white acrylic paint (cheap stuff from a craft store). As the paint dried the magic happened. It crackled the paint a deliciously old fashioned way.
Finished Project:

I love the way this turned out!
It is perfect for my new office to hold my favorite books and mags! I love that i was able to transform something cost effective from IKEA into something so fresh and different!

Book Page Rose Valentine

Using some terrific book page rose tutorials,
I was able to create this beauty:

The pink heart is actually packing paper (which I might have a plethora of) that I embossed with my new Big Shot to create texture to the flower petals.
Love!

Project Life-Cover Pages

I wanted to incorporate my 2011 New Years Resolution into my (new to me) Project Life. So I happen to have this darling plastic sleeve "thingy" laying around my office. I printed our most recent family picture taken by my darling cousin onto Canvas Paper I found on CLEARANCE at Target. This overlays the title page of my project. I also printed all of my first pictures on the canvas paper to give the first page of the album and different feel. I love the addition of the ribbons and flowers. And of course the white doodlebug lettering.

Zipper Flower

Taking a white zipper I put it into a bag and dyed it with Tattered Angels Glam. It gives the zipper flower a sort of dirty rustic look. I love gold and silver paired together and I needed a little zing to my evening clutch.

Snow Scrapbook Layout

Starting with a blank white slate, I sewed snow lines into the bottom and spritz mountains on the tip of the paper. The acrylic embellishments are Tattered Angels that embellished with wet diamond glaze and glimmer mist. Love the effect!
Finished the embellishments with some Maya Road rose ribbon, and more acrylic snow flakes.

Pumpkinesque

Using Graphic 45 Papers and a little old fashioned elementary school crafting...
I first distressed the paper using Tattered Angels Glimmer mist and a few I painted with Glimmer Glam.
Each pumpkin was adorned with some homemade roses....and some maya road rose ribbon.

Tattered Pink Wall Hangings

To start with this darling wall hanging group, I took some white cotton fabric.

I laid my Tattered Angels Screens over top and sprits it with the glimmer mist. (Black magic and sweet pea)

I then took some black and gold thread and embroidered around the negative of the screen.

I found the fabric hoops at my local thrift store for very inexpensive
and painted them black to match.
